Oil / Water Separator Internal Design Information Layout

Global-Tek Coalescing oil / water separators

They come pre-engineered, pre-packaged, and self-contained. No power source required on basic units.

A – Inlet Chamber

Flow enters the inlet chamber where it is dispersed through a non-clog diffuser across the width & depth of the coalescing media pack.

G – Fiberglass Oil / Water Separator

The entire fiberglass separator is covered with corrosion – resistant gelcoat, integrally colored and ultra-violet resitant. Since the envelope and fittings are corrosion-resistant, the separator can be installed in many hostile environments.

B – Oil Removal

The separated oil accumulates at the surface of the separation chamber where it displaces the water. As the oil layer increases, oil spills into an adjustable rotary pipe skimmer where it can flow by gravity to an optional integral oil storage reservoir or to remote storage tank.

C – Sheen Baffle

A sheen baffle shall be provided ahead of the overweir to stop most residual or late surfacing oil from entering the clean water outlet chamber.

F – Sludge Chamber

The Sludge Chamber is located directly beneath the separation chamber and provides adequate volume for settled solids. The sides of the sludge chamber are sloped 45 degrees to insure removal of the solids.

E – Coalescing Separation Chamber

The chamber coalescing matrix provides a suitable surface for the droplets to meet and grow, or coalesce, into larger droplets. as the oil droplets grow in size the buoyancy of the droplets increase. The droplets rise towards the surface of the water due to the fact that the specific gravity of oil is less than the specific gravity of water. In this way the oil will form a layer that can be separated from the water by a skimming action before the water is reused or discharged.

D – Clean Water Outlet Chamber

The clean water chamber is located at the end of the coalescing separator. Water flows over the adjustable overweir, which controls the water level in the separator.  The outlet chamber is fitted with a “T” pipe outlet which allows the treated water to discharge only from the bottom of that chamber.
